Park joins inaugural Innovate KC Book

KU Innovation Park will be featured in the first-ever Innovate KC publication. The book highlights innovative companies and organizations that showcase the vibrant spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

“We’re building a hub of discovery that not only supports individual companies but also positions Lawrence, the Kansas City region, and the state of Kansas as leaders in bioscience and technology development,” said Adam Courtney, the Park’s CEO.

Check out the complete Park profile online here. The physical book is set for publication in 2025.

Student paper showcases KU partnership with Park company

Park company Design-Zyme has a long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship with the University of Kansas. Not only did the company and university recently secure a $3 million SBIR grant for a Lyme disease vaccine, but the partnership was also recently highlighted in the University Daily Kansan, KU’s student newspaper.

  • Professor Scott Hefty said the collaboration provides students and faculty experience in both academia and a commercial lab.
  • “Most of the students coming out of the program are not going to work in academics. They’re going to work in some sort of an industrial setting,” Design-Zyme CEO and founder Pete Petillo told the UDK.
  • Students at KU have roles in developing the Lyme disease vaccine, providing real-world hands-on learning experiences.
