2026 Lab2Market cohort ready for what’s next
Great ideas need more than breakthrough research to become successful companies. They need customer validation, market strategy and the right support to get there.
Seven ventures have completed KU Innovation Park’s 2026 Lab2Market accelerator, a six-month program that helps researchers and entrepreneurs advance their innovations toward commercialization.
Worth a look: This year’s cohort is tackling challenges in battery recycling, agriculture, education, athletics, health care and drug discovery, demonstrating the breadth of innovation emerging from the University of Kansas and beyond.
Applications Open for KU I-Corps Through Sept. 8
Customer discovery is one of the most important steps in commercialization. Before investing more time, funding and effort into developing a technology, innovators need to understand who their customers are, what challenges they face and whether their solution truly meets a market need.
The University of Kansas I-Corps program helps research teams do exactly that. Through a five-week virtual program, participants learn a proven framework for testing assumptions, validating market demand and building a stronger path from discovery to commercialization.
Program at a glance:
- Application deadline: September 8
- Format: Five week virtual cohort
- Time commitment: Approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, including cohort sessions, coaching, customer discovery interviews and weekly assignments
- Customer discovery support: Teams that successfully complete the program receive $2,000 to support customer discovery activities for the Technical Lead
- Next step: Regional I-Corps participation is now required before applying to NSF I-Corps National Teams, which includes a $50,000 award opportunity
- Cohort size: Limited to 10 teams
