Growing Businesses Wanted for Foundation Awards

The Lawrence Business Magazine and its Foundation Awards have celebrated growing local businesses for over a decade. Now in its eleventh year, the magazine is searching for its next class of honorees.

Business Basics: There are just three criteria to meet to earn a Foundation Award for your growing local business.

  • Be a locally owned business or franchise.
  • Be established in Douglas County for at least three years.
  • Your business added 20% or 20 new jobs to its workforce between January 1 and December 31, 2023.

Simply fill out this form by Thursday, February 29.

Creating Impact: For the 10th anniversary in 2023, The Foundation Awards added two new categories, the Minority-Owned Business Foundation Impact Award and the Woman-Owned Business Foundation Impact Award.

  • As defined by the Kansas Department of Commerce, businesses at least 51% owned by a minority or a woman qualify.
  • These businesses do not have to be Foundation Award winners to receive these impact awards.
  • However, businesses do need to showcase stable or growing employment and how they make a focused impact on supporting the Lawrence and Douglas County communities.
  • Apply for the impact awards here.

Join the Celebration: The Foundation Awards celebration will be on April 24 at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Lawrence at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire. Learn more about the event here.
