JUST ENOUGH DESIGN
The Park’s final lunch and learn of 2024 is on the books! Join us on Thursday, December 5, for a lesson on deciding when you have just enough design.
- This session will offer practical insights for non-designers and product leaders who want to improve their visual design skills. Get best practices on how to create simple, effective designs using foundational UX and UI principles.
- Attendees will learn how to make visually appealing, user-friendly interfaces that build trust and enhance user experience without the need for complex tools or costly design resources.
- Brian Cox with Digital Bullpen is a seasoned design professional known for his user-centered design and product development expertise.
- Networking and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation at 12:00 p.m.
NSF VIRTUAL GRANTS CONFERENCE
The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) will hold its Fall 2024 Virtual Grants Conference from December 9 to 12.
- This conference is designed to give new faculty, researchers and administrators key insights into the wide range of current issues at NSF.
- Hear up-to-date information about policies, procedures and specific funding opportunities.

Reminder: November is for Entrepreneurs
This month is full of celebrations for entrepreneurs! Not only is it National Entrepreneur Month, but there’s also Global Entrepreneurship Week, National STEM Day and National Entrepreneurs’ Day. In Kansas City, Global Entrepreneurship Week means inspiration, education and networking at Union Station from November 19 to 21.
- This year’s event features five tracks: finance, market, operate, startup and Español sesiones.
- Must-have items include business cards, your phone, a notebook and pen and comfortable footwear. Union Station is 850,000 square feet, after all!

ICYMI: Oread Angel Investors kicks off
The Oread Angel Investors network officially kicked off on Friday, November 8, with its inaugural in-person event. The group of regional angels and investors were welcomed by Park CEO Adam Courtney, KU Alumni Association President Heath Peterson, and University of Kansas Chancellor Doug Girod before hearing from five Jayhawk-affiliated startups.
